Roccadaspide is located north-west of Cilento and extends along the river Calore valley.
It is part of the Park of Cilento and Vallo di Diano and Mountain Zone Calore Salernitano.

Initially named "Casavetere of Capaccio" or "San Nicolas de Aspro", around 900 appears as the "Rocce", as if to confirm the existence of a rock or a tower. Following "Rocca de Aspro," and "Rocca dell'Aspro" (harshness of the place) or De Aspro or Rocca de Aspris (shield or defense) to become Rocca dell'Aspide the end of the sixteenth century, then Rocca d' Aspide and , from 1850, the current Roccadaspide.

To visit the Medieval Castle (beautiful castle that is spread over 5 levels and an area of about 2,000 sqm., with seven towers, two quadrangular in opposite directions), the many beautiful churches (including church "Navicità Beata Vergine Maria"), the Franciscan Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie", the ruins of the Convent of Santa Maria dell'Arco.

Roccadaspide fractions are: Serra, Fonte, Tempalta, Doglie, Carretiello, Tuoro, Casalotto, Verna, Seude, Terzerie, Massa and Isca.
Many are the typical products of the place, including the chestnut certainly stands out, making use of the mark IGP (il "Marrone" of the Roccadaspide), confectionery and production related to it. Worthy of note are the production of wine, olive oil, honey and organic agricultural products and dairy.
On July 18 is celebrated in Santa Symphorosa.
